Escuchando las Montañas

¨Es interesante como las montañas nos hablan mientras intentamos escalarlas. Escuchamos como nos cuestionan en lo mas profundo de nuestro ser con preguntas tan elementales como: ¨seguir¨ o ¨retroceder¨, ¨luchar¨ o ¨rendirse¨.

Que tan lejos llega uno sabiendo que seguir adelante significa enfrentarse a algo totalmente desconocido y sin poder dar marcha atras...Que tan lejos llega uno sabiendo que no se esta ajeno de las realidades de nuestro mundo tales como vivir o morir.

Los escaladores somos como astronautas en nuestro propio planeta. Nos jugamos el todo por el todo en busqueda de algo intangible, algo espiritual, un sueño. Y en esa exploracion nos aferramos a nuestras convicciones confiando unicamente en nuestra fuerza y mente.

Es increible como esa lucha interna por entender el entorno y nuestras capacidades pueden llevarnos a hacer las cosas mas increibles o morir en un instante. Cuando esos momentos de dialogo profundo llegan a mi trato de escuchar a mi corazon.

Las montañas entonces dejan de ser mi enemigo, reconozco su grandeza y me rindo ante ellas.

Es entonces cuando me doy cuenta que para poder hacer mi sueños realidad tengo que enfrentarme al mas grande rival: yo mismo...¨ - Cesar Melendez

Listening Mountains

¨It´s interesting how mountains speak to us while we climb. As mountaineers we are very fortunate to be able to hear mountains deep within our hearts but, at the same time, we find ourselves constantly tested by them. Simple and fundamental questions like ¨should I keep going¨ or ¨should I hold back¨ or ¨should I try¨ or ¨should I give up¨ can become a crucial moment of failure or success.

How far would you go knowing that certain paths and decisions have no way back...

We climbers are like astronauts in our own world. We give it all in search of something spiritual, a dream. We hold on to rock but also to our heart and convictions in every single step.

It is amazing how this journey can either lead us to accomplish the most incredible things or kill us in just an instant. Whenever my journey take me into those moments of dialog with mountains I listen to my heart.

Then I realize mountains are not my enemies anymore, I recognize their magnificence and surrender to them. Ultimately I understand that in order to make my goals and dreams come true I have to face a totally different rival: myself...¨ - Cesar Melendez
